Teachers in Foothills Digital School are dedicated to ensuring that they provide learning opportunities that are provincially-aligned, engaging, and based on current research. In the primary grades, Google Classroom is the platform used to house the learning materials for students, while allowing them to also submit and receive feedback on what has been submitted. In the upper grade levels, the Moodle platform is used, allowing for more advanced interactions with the learning and opportunities to demonstrate understanding.

Students are provided with opportunities to meet online with their teachers during both regularly scheduled class meetings and one-on-one meetings. These meetings allow for student interactions with their teacher(s) and peers, as well as for individualized support as needed. The course work is designed and presented in a way that it can be worked on independently, but also allows for collaboration through the facilitation of instructors, peer interactions, and even in-person opportunities. Learning can occur both synchronously and asynchronously, again providing flexibility for learners.

Students have joined the Foothills Digital School for a variety of reasons, from health concerns to social-emotional needs, family travel to extracurricular involvements. The format of the school offerings allows for the flexibility that these students need in order to be successful in school and other endeavors. Where a traditional school setting might not have the resources in place to meet the needs of these students, Foothills Digital School has built-in accessibility that allows for those needs to be met more seamlessly. For anyone looking for a modified learning option for their child/children, the Foothills Digital School is one that should definitely be explored.
