Special Easter Egg Hunt with the Peace Wapiti Public School Division

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

On April 5, the Grade 5 and 6 students of Bonanza School, in partnership with Karen Beatty, Educational Consultant for students with vision loss, from Peace Collaborative Services, hosted a special Easter egg hunt for students with visual impairments. The event included beeping Easter eggs that the Bonanza students built in the school’s makerspace. 180 eggs were built over two afternoons, and a kit of 30 eggs and a manual, completed in Braille, were given to each visually impaired student’s school to use again each year.

Bonanza School Principal Theresa Simmonds says she is thrilled with how the day went. “It’s nice for the students to see the fruits of their labour. The kids worked hard to make today special for our students with visual impairments and it couldn’t have gone any better.”
